La Reina Isabel de Castilla realiza una retrospectiva de lo que ha sido su vida. De los logros políticos y sociales que consiguió, así como su lucha contra la soledad que hubo de soportar. Isabel I conocía las obligaciones que tenía y fue siempre severa y responsable con ellas, apoyó las iniciativas de Cristobal Colón, firmó importantes tratados políticos y se casó con Fernando el Católico, con el que tuvo una vida familiar no libre de desgracias, pues tuvo que superar, a duras penas, la muerte de dos hijos y la locura de Juana.
Isabel Ordaz es la única intérprete de esta insólita película y sobre ella cae todo el peso de la trama. El guión examina cuidadosamente cada parte de lo que fue la vida de la reina y los sentimientos de ésta, una mujer avanzada para su tiempo. Emotiva y turbadora, dirige el film Rafael Gordon.
La Reina Isabel en Persona debería ser un documento irrenunciable en la escuela, para ayudar a los jóvenes a comprender la grandeza de una Reina que –junto a su esposo– abrió las puertas a la Edad Moderna y supo legar a su nieto, el Emperador Carlos, un gran patrimonio y una nación de la que sentirse orgulloso.
Conocida es la anécdota de la respuesta de Carlos I a un embajador francés, sorprendido de que el Rey no utilizara el francés como lengua diplomática: “No importa que no me entendáis. Que yo estoy hablando en mi lengua española, que es tan bella y noble que debería ser conocida por toda la cristiandad”.

Five centuries after his time Isabel of Castile tells her story. The story 
of a woman who was Queen and exercised power in Renaissance Europe. A Queen who created the modern age and enables the discovery of America opposes the woman suffering from loneliness and misunderstanding. Isabel de Castilla is an iconic figure, controversial, irreconcilable passions aroused that magnify or, conversely, the disqualifying. Isabella of Castile to explain their feelings and concerns and evidence precursor personality. Timeless. The 53 years of his life are summarized in ninety minutes that reconcile the love and pain. The lucid and complex vision of a singular woman.–
A woman in a man’s world, the wild-eyed, wild-haired Isabel (Ordaz) is at the end of her span. Moving around shadowy, stony 15th-century interiors, she verbally revisits the main episodes of her life, including her country’s arrival in the New World, her expulsion from the Jews from Spain and her intense, lengthy love affair with Fernando of Aragon. Ordaz, little-known even at home – except for her Goya-winning role in Javier Maqua’s gritty 1997 drama, “Chevrolet” – attacks the role With Relish, creating an Isabel who’s intelligent, passionate and arrogant, but Also aware of her flaws. Well-researched script gives the sneaker-wearing queen an awareness of more recent events, such as Hiroshima and 20th-century right-wing political activism, allowing her to come across as the modern-minded pioneer she was.

Colombian-American Artist Tatiana Escallon will unveil her most recent paintings, Taste and Contrast – Large Scale (8×12 feet aprox) each.
A work of 3 paintings, Two of them belonging to the collection Taste and Contrast; and the third one, a figurative work inspired by an inevitable moment during the Artist life.

I will talk about the experience of creating for the first time a large-scale work, the processes, and the meaning of the work as well as the challenge.
The purpose of this project is to share my work with the community, the neighborhood, the city, the world, I hope it inspires others to keep dreams alive and to make them real! It is my contribution to the arts today, and a great opportunity to grow as an artist confronting new challenges that will help me move forward.
It is a honor for me as an artist with an independent studio to be one of the few recipients of the prestigious Support for Artist and Creative Individuals grant from the City of Houston .
The exhibition will be at my studio, a gem from the 1940’s located in the historic Thirdward, Houston, TX.

Cochabamba, Bolivia. Año 2000. Sebastián (Gael García Bernal) y Costa (Luis Tosar) se han propuesto hacer una película sobre Cristóbal Colón y el descubrimiento de América. Mientras que Sebastián, el director, pretende desmitificar al personaje presentándolo como un hombre ambicioso y sin escrúpulos; a Costa, el productor, sólo le importa ajustar la película al modesto presupuesto del que disponen; precisamente por eso elige Bolivia, por ser uno de los países más baratos y con mayor población indígena de Hispanoamérica. La película se rueda en Cochabamba, donde la privatización y venta del agua a una multinacional siembra entre la población un malestar tal que hará estallar la tristemente famosa Guerra Boliviana del Agua (abril del año 2000). Quinientos años después del descubrimiento de América, palos y piedras se enfrentan de nuevo al acero y la pólvora de un ejército moderno. Pero esta vez no se lucha por el oro, sino por el más imprescindible de los elementos vitales: el agua.
Even the Rain
Spanish director Sebastián, his executive producer Costa and all his crew are in Bolivia, in the Cochabamba area, to shoot a motion picture about Christopher Columbus, his first explorations and the way the Spaniards treated the Indians at the time. Costa has chosen this place because the budget of the film is tight and here he can hire supernumeraries, local actors and extras on the cheap. Things go more or less smoothly until a conflict erupts over the privatization of the water supply. The trouble is that one of the local actors, is a leading activist in the protest movement.
