A través de las canciones más emblemáticas de Edith Piaf, daremos un paseo por lo que fue su vida. Experimentaremos cómo una mujer frágil que comenzó a ganarse la vida cantando en las calles de la clase trabajadora de París se convirtió en una leyenda musical.

La voz y las melodías de Piaf son reconocibles al instante. Esto hace que interpretarla sea un tremendo desafío para cualquier actriz. Mariaca Semprún, conocida en todo el mundo de habla hispana, está a la altura del desafío. Semprún busca en su mundo interior y logra rendir un magnífico homenaje a la voz, el arte y el legado de Piaf. Leonardo Padrón, uno de los grandes intelectuales de América Latina, ha entretejido la música de Piaf en una historia cautivadora.

Since 1983, the IHCH has sponsored each year an international artistic production, the “Festival Folclórico”, at the Miller Theater. The theater offers IHCH the presentation of recognized Hispanic artists in the areas of theater, television, radio, and film, and it also features colorful folk dance groups, both local and international. Every year we celebrate a different country. The entrance is free to the general public.

For 53 years, The Institute for Hispanic Culture of Houston, has supported qualified and deserving students through partial needs-based scholarships, having awarded nearly $350,000 in scholarships since 1965. The Annual Gala as the signature fundraiser, has a goal of raising more than $50,000 in scholarship resources to support more than 25 students each year. We invite you to support this initiative by attending our Gala or underwriting this event.
