In Loving Memory of Anita Kiperman
It is with deep sadness that the Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston (IHCH) announces the death of Professor Anita G. Kiperman, a dear friend and member of the IHCH since the 1970s.
Professor Kiperman was the right hand of her husband, Dr. Jorge Kiperman, during his presidency of the Institute in 1973. In addition, she participated as a member of the Board of Directors in 1976 and 1977. She was also an active member of various committees and activities of the same for many years, especially as Chair of the Scholarship and Culture Committee.
Professor Kiperman, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, received her Master’s Degree in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Houston and served as a professor of Spanish Literature at Rice University. She was known primarily as a person dedicated to Hispanic education and culture.
In order to achieve these goals, she organized several trips with groups of university students to the Argentine Republic and also to Seville, Spain.
Likewise, her educational and cultural efforts were expressed in the activities of the Institute of Hispanic Culture and Casa Argentina de Houston, among which were her support to the Engineer and well-known pianist, Rene Casarsa, in awarding music scholarships to high school students in the city of Houston.
Other organizations to which Anita Kiperman actively belonged were, among others: as Founding Member of Casa Argentina de Houston, member of La Casa de España, and the Archaelogical Institute of America (AIA), Board of Directors member of Archaelogy Now, member of the Outreach and Education committee of the Museum of Fine Arts, advisor to the Steering Committee of the Printing Museum History and the Houston Grand Opera, member of the Education Committee of the Society for the Performing Arts and the Menil Museum and Lecturer Emeritus of the department of Hispanic and Classical Studies from Rice University.
The Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston joins, with all her colleagues and friends, in expressing our condolences to her beloved daughter Gigi, her son-in-law and her adored grandchildren.
Instead of flower arrangements, a donation is requested to be sent to the IHCH for the creation of an “Anita Kiperman” Scholarship.

Con profunda tristeza el Instituto de Cultura Hispana de Houston (IHCH) da a conocer el fallecimiento de la profesora Anita G. de Kiperman, querida amiga y miembro del IHCH desde la década de los setenta.
La profesora Kiperman fue la mano derecha de su esposo, el doctor Dr. Jorge Kiperman, durante su presidencia del Instituto en 1973. Además, participó como miembro de la Mesa Directiva en 1976 y 1977. También, fue miembro activo de varios comités y actividades del mismo durante muchos años, especialmente como Chair del Comité de Becas y de Cultura.
La profesora Kiperman, nacida en Buenos Aires, Argentina, recibió su Maestría en Lengua y Literatura Española de la Universidad de Houston y ejerció en la Catedra de Literatura Española en la Universidad de Rice. Fue conocida primordialmente como una persona dedicada a la educación y la cultura hispana. A fin de conseguir estos objetivos, organizó varios viajes con grupos de estudiantes universitarios a la República Argentina y también a Sevilla, España. De igual manera, sus esfuerzos educativos y culturales se expresaron en las actividades del Instituto de Cultura Hispana y Casa Argentina de Houston, entre las que sobresale el apoyo al ingeniero y conocido pianista Rene Casarsa en otorgar becas de música a estudiantes de escuelas secundarias de la ciudad de Houston.
Otras organizaciones a las que Anita Kiperman perteneció activamente, fueron, entre otras: Miembro Fundador de Casa Argentina de Houston, miembro de La Casa de España, del Archaelogical Institute of America (AIA), miembro de la Junta Directiva de Archaelogy Now, miembro del comité de Outreach y Educación del Museo de Bellas Artes, consejera del Comité Directivo del Museum of Printing History y del Houston Grand Opera, miembro del Comité de Educación de la Society for the Performing Arts y del Menil Museum y Lecturer Emeritus del departamento de Hispanic and Classical Studies de la Universidad de Rice.
El Instituto de Cultura Hispana se une, con todos sus colegas y amigos, en expresar nuestras condolencias a su querida hija Gigi, su yerno y adorados nietos.
Se pide que en vez de arreglos florales se envíe donación al IHCH para creación de una Beca “Anita Kiperman”.
