
IHCH celebrated 60 years of education & heritage at Viva the Gala!, honoring leaders, scholars, and sponsors who make their mission possible.
The Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston (IHCH) marked six decades of expanding educational opportunities, honoring community leaders, and celebrating Hispanic heritage at its spectacular Viva the Gala! celebration. The event brought together supporters, sponsors, and scholarship recipients for an unforgettable evening of recognition and inspiration.
A Night of Celebration and Gratitude
The gala, held at the fabulous Omni Houston Hotel, was a testament to IHCH’s enduring mission of fostering education and cultural pride. Attendees enjoyed an elegant evening filled with heartfelt tributes, live entertainment, and a shared commitment to empowering future generations.
“We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, honorees, and community members who have stood with us for 60 years,” said Veronica Foley, IHCH Board President. “This gala was not just a celebration of our past achievements but a reaffirmation of our dedication to uplifting Hispanic students and leaders in Houston and beyond.”
Honoring Distinguished Leaders
The evening’s awards ceremony recognized outstanding contributions to the Hispanic community:
- Individual Legacy Award: Jim Soto, a longtime advocate for education and cultural preservation, was celebrated for his unwavering commitment to IHCH’s mission.
- Corporate Impact Award: Hess Corporation received accolades for its steadfast support of educational initiatives and community development.
- Community Leadership Award (Posthumous): Jose Adan and Virgie Treviño were honored for their lifelong dedication to empowering Hispanic youth and families.
Scholarship Recipients Take Center Stage
The gala also spotlighted IHCH’s scholarship recipients—Natalia, Marco, and Judith—whose academic achievements and personal stories embody the organization’s impact. Judith, one of the scholars, moved the audience with her testimony of perseverance and gratitude.
“Education is the key to unlocking dreams, and thanks to IHCH, I am one step closer to mine,” Judith shared. Her words underscored the transformative power of the scholarships made possible by IHCH’s supporters.
A Collective Effort
The success of Viva the Gala! was made possible by the dedication Gala Co-Chairs Carmen Muñoz and Monica Amariz, and the countless volunteers who contributed their time and talent.
The event also featured a heartfelt opening prayer by Karely Rioufol and a poignant address by Board President Veronica Foley.
