The Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston (IHCH) is excited to announce, “Latin America in The Americas,” a vibrant celebration of Latin American culture timed with the “Día de la Hispanidad.” This captivating event, produced by DANMAR Academy of Performing Arts, showcases a rich tapestry of traditions through dance, music, and audiovisual presentations, aligning with IHCH’s dedication to preserving and disseminating Hispanic culture in Houston. Since its inception in 1965 by a group of passionate professionals, IHCH has been pivotal in promoting Hispanic culture through collaborations with local universities, the Texas Commission of the Arts, and the Houston Arts Alliance. “Latin America in The Americas” underscores this mission, offering a platform for cultural expression and education.
The event features artistic direction by award- winning choreographer Maria Fernanda Urbaez and musical direction by Grammy Award winner Eddy Marcano. It includes performances from both internationally recognized and local award- nominated artists, carefully selected to highlight emerging talents aged 13 and older.
“Latin America in The Americas” is more than just a showcase; it is an immersive experience into the beauty and complexity of Latin American cultures. This event also supports the IHCH’s educational initiatives by contributing to merit-based scholarships for Hispanic students, awarded during the annual Gala, Viva The Gala.
