WITH A NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS, THE INSTITUTE OF HISPANIC CULTURE LAUNCHES ITS ACTIVITIES PROGRAM

In an emotional ceremony broadcasted live, on the night of Wednesday, January 27, 2021, the new Board of Directors of the Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston was sworn in. The ceremony was led by the new president Mayte Sera Weitzman and the new members: Mr. German Torres, Mr. Jhakees Napolitano, Ms. Escarle Silva, Ms. Carmen Herrada, Ms. Adriana Calhoon, Mr. Craig Friou, Mr. Mark Font , Mr. Eugene Lee, Mr. Adrian Dueñas and Mr. Andrew Slentz.

En una emotiva ceremonia transmitida en vivo, la noche del miércoles 27 de enero de 2021, juramentó la nueva Junta Directiva del Instituto de Cultura Hispana de Houston. La ceremonia estuvo encabezada por la nueva presidenta Mayte Sera Weitzman y los nuevos integrantes: Sr. German Torres, Sr. Jhakees Napolitano, Sra. Escarle Silva, Sra. Carmen Herrada, Sra. Adriana Calhoon, Sr. Craig Friou, Sr. Mark Font, Sr. Eugene Lee, Sr. Adrian Dueñas y Sr. Andrew Slentz.

Under the motto “2021 A Year of Cultural Fusion”, with renewed energy, the Institute has planned the development of virtual and face-to-face activities with a vision of cultural integration.
On February 14, the Noche de la Cultura y la Amistad, a celebration that will have the special participation of musicians Nano Silva and Rudy, and the flavors of chef Bielitski Prada, who will offer her traditional paella.
Also, during the month of February the IHCH Culinary Pop Up initiative will be launched, a program specially designed to support small local gastronomic businesses with the support of prominent chefs and culinary leaders: Katherine Whaley – ABC 13, Tanji Patton – Good Taste TV, Chef Sylvia Casares – Chef and owner Sylvia’s, Constance and Clifford McDerby – Founders of Wine & Food Week and Vine Time Productions, Kiran Verma – Chef owner Kiran’s Restaurant & Lounge and Sheri Segari – Lulu & Ruby.
Currently on view in the gallery space is an exhibition of the Argentine photographer Cynthia Isakson. We have also started the Open Call for exhibitions, which will be open until April 3rd.

Bajo el lema “2021 Año de la Fusión Cultural”, con energías renovadas, el Instituto ha planificado el desarrollo de actividades virtuales y presenciales con una visión de integración cultural.
El 14 de febrero se llevará a cabo la Noche de la Cultura y la Amistad, celebración que contará con la participación especial de los músicos Nano Silva y Rudy, y los sabores de la Bielitski Prada quien ofrecerá su tradicional paella.
Asimismo, durante el mes de febrero se lanzará la iniciativa IHCH Culinary Pop Up, un programa especialmente diseñado para apoyar a las pequeñas empresas gastronómicas locales con el apoyo de destacados chefs y líderes culinarios: Katherine Whaley – ABC 13, Tanji Patton – Good Taste TV, Chef Sylvia Casares, chef y propietaria Sylvia’s, Constance y Clifford McDerby, fundadores de Wine & Food Week y Vine Time Productions, Kiran Verma – chef propietaria Kiran’s Restaurant & Lounge y Sheri Segari – Lulu & Ruby.
Actualmente se exhibe en el espacio de la galería una exposición de la fotógrafa argentina Cynthia Isakson. También hemos iniciado la Convocatoria de exposiciones, que estará abierta hasta el 3 de abril.
