Parade of flags and salsa tunes add lively touch to Noche de las Américas gala
More than 200 guests turned out for 51st annual Noche de las Americas celebration, chaired by Karina and Carlos Barbieri. This year’s bash, with the theme of “Discovery and Exploration,” honored the discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus, highlighting the Latin heritage.
Partygoers enjoyed a presentation of the traditional March of Padrinos (the carrying of Latin American and Spanish flags) followed by salsa tunes from the Angelucho Copacabana band.
Funds raised from the evening benefit The Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston (IHCH), which offers scholarship and cultural programs to students in the Houston area.
