Un espacio renovado para artistas hispanos en Houston

Este año, el directorio del Instituto Hispano de Cultura en Houston ha mantenido su apoyo y contribución a la difusión de la labor artística realizando una convocatoria abierta a los artistas locales, cuya selección contó con el prestigiado jurado Betirri Bengtson y la participación de una variada e interesante gama de trabajos originales.

Conforme con los resultados de dicha convocatoria, es un agrado presentar a los tres artistas seleccionados a quienes hacemos extensivas nuestras felicitaciones, a la vez que agradecemos a todos los que participaron en esta iniciativa.

Sus obras, afrontadas desde diferentes disciplinas como pintura, escultura, textiles, instalación y fotografía expresan diferentes modos de reflexión en torno a identidades y aspectos interculturales.

El programa de exhibiciones se efectuará a contar del mes de septiembre de 2020 hasta febrero de 2021, en la galería del Instituto, ubicada en el distrito de Upper Kirby, 3315 Sul Ross St., Houston, Texas 77098. La entrada es gratuita y se efectuarán visitas guiadas programadas.

Con esta iniciativa, nuestra institución confía en fortalecer una relevante representación de artistas hispanos en Houston, Texas.

El Instituto de Cultura Hispana en Houston es una organización sin fines de lucro fundada en 1965 y es una de las organizaciones hispanas más antiguas de la ciudad de Houston.

A renovated space for Hispanic artists in Houston

This year, the board of directors of the Hispanic Institute of Culture in Houston has maintained its support and contribution to the dissemination of artistic work by creating an open call for art exhibitions available to local artists.  The outcome of this open call included a variety of interesting and original artists and their works.  The selection of the chosen exhibitions was led by prestigious juror Betirri Bengtson.

In accordance with the results of this open call, it is a pleasure to present the three selected artists to whom we extend our congratulations. We would also like to thank all those who participated in this initiative. We truly enjoyed all the participants applications, and wish to congratulate and thank those applicants for their time and creativity.

The following are the 3 artists selected for the Open Call 2020-2021 Art Exhibitions:

Cynthia Isakson: Iara – Digital photograph printed on giclee paper

Their works, composed of different disciplines such as painting, sculpture, textiles, installation and photography, reflect different ways of thought about identities and intercultural aspects.

The exhibition program will take place from September 2020 to February 2021, at the Institute Gallery, located in the Upper Kirby district, 3315 Sul Ross St., Houston, Texas 77098. Admission is free and open to the public with previous scheduled guided tours.

With this initiative, our institution seeks to strengthen the importance of Hispanic art in Houston, Texas.

The Institute of Hispanic Culture in Houston is a non-profit organization founded in 1965, making it one of the oldest Hispanic organizations in the City of Houston.
